Back In The Swing Of Life

Happy New Year everyone! It's been a nice little break and now I'm back in full swing of life. I know it's been said already, but I hope that you are off to a great new year. We just got back yesterday from being in San Antonio, TX. Spence was inviting to the FBU national combine for 8th graders. It surrounded the events of the Army/All- American Bowl. We decided to take the whole family for the weekend. Of course we started the first day out with eating. Haha!! We ate on the riverfront at Casa Rio. It was delicious.

Then Spence was off to his football combine. They got all of the measuring and weight things done the first night. Here he is getting his vertical length taken and weight. Glad I don't have to do that after the holidays.

We got to watch the Army/All American Bowl which was fun to see. We got to cheer on my friend Kim Hill's son, Graham Shuler who was playing in it. Games like that inspire Spence to see how hard he will have to work to get to that level by his Senior Year. After the game, Spence was busy doing things, so Price, Stu, and I went to check out the Alamo. Price is totally into all of the guns, knives, and cannons.

Then we headed back to the Alamo dome to watch Spence do all his stuff.

The next day we had some time to play around San Antonio. You'll never believe who I ran into on the streets. Yep! Toby Keith. My dad works out at the golf course where Toby is a member and he's always telling Toby about Point of Grace. (Proud dad) Anyway, I've never met him. We saw him on the streets of San Antonio. He was very kind and gracious. Said that my dad was a very sweet man. I thanked him for listening to all of the POG stories. lol Anyway, my dad was pumped when we sent him the picture.

Here's what I'm super excited about though. My boys are OBSESSED with Segways. Ever since they watch the movie "Mall Cop". They beg for one every Christmas. Well, San Antonio had a Segway TOUR!! It was so much fun. My boys said afterwards that it was the best day EVER!!!!! Here we are in front of the Alamo.

Here's some little video clips you might enjoy. One is a monologue from the movie. Maybe you'll recognize it.

Now I'm back to reality with carpool, basketball games, and homework. Oh well, such is life and I love it. Have a blessed day.

Denise

Denise,
I'm glad your family enjoyed San Antonio. My husband and I honeymooned there in 1987. We go back every 5 years to celebrate another "honeymoon". This year will be our 25th in August and since that's kind of a big deal, we'll hopefully go on a cruise. I had to tell my husband that the river cruises in San Antonio did not count as a "cruise." Also, Casa Rio is where we had our first dinner on our honeymoon and I dropped my fork in the river. We eat there every time we go back. He likes to remind me about the fork. Again, so glad ya'll enjoyed my home state, hopefully as much as I enjoy POG!

Denise, you look as cute as you did in HS! I keep thinking I will run into you.... But Nashville is a big big town! Lol! Happy for your great many blessings!!!! I miss bits of Norman!!! Inspired by your blogs! Thanks ! Marni
