Fourteen!!!!!! Is it really possible? I can't believe it. My first born is 14! Why does 14 sound so much older than 13? I know..... it's sad, I'm sitting here typing and crying at the same time. My heart is full of joy at what both of my boys bring to my life, but I can't believe that I have less than 5 years with him at home under my roof. It would be God's timing that in my Bible study this week we were studying Abraham and how he was willing to give up Isaac as an offering because God asked him to. When it comes to our kids it sure is hard to "let go and let God" do His work within them. That is what I'm trying to do though. I want to learn how not to parent in fear. I'm so fickle though. One second I will try to take a deep breath and calmly talk about things, then the next minute I blow a fuse because he didn't get the grade I expected him to get. Yuck on me.

Here he is.... the birthday boy. At the 8th grade recognition. I had a better official picture, but couldn't figure out how to make my scanner work.

He had a few friends go bowling the other night after our Homecoming Football Game. Yes, there are a few girls in the picture. Supposedly they are just friends:) Stu says I'm overprotective!!! They are sweet girls though. We call them the A's because all of their names begin with A. Anna, Abby, Allie, and Audrey. I'm still having to get used to the idea. I don't understand why girls aren't ugly in 8th grade. Anyway, it was fun watching them all interact and be silly.

Can't I just keep holding him? No of course not. So what do I do instead? Make his favorite meals. lol

This morning I got up at 5 to pre-cook some of dinner because I don't have time this afternoon. He wants our Creamy Chicken Enchiladas from the Cookbook w/ Spanish rice and of course Shelley's Mom's salsa and chips. So at 5 a.m. I'm sauteing onions and cooking salsa. It didn't really smell that appetizing at the time. Then he wanted cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Thank goodness that he doesn't mean homemade rolls. Pillsbury does just fine:) He ate the whole can besides 2. One for Price and one for Stu. Later on I'll be picking up a big cookie from "Great American Cookie Co". I'm going to have to run a lot of extra miles to participate in today's events. For lunch he wants me to bring him a footlong Meatball Sub from Subway. Can you tell he is on a growth spurt?

Anyway, I say this to Spence. You are so special to me. I'm proud of the young man you are growing into. You love God and it shows by the way you care about your friends, teachers, coaches, parents, and sometimes your little brother. lol. I know that you are going to make some mistakes along the way, but I want you to know that we will love you. Like that book I used to read you says, "I love forever, I like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be". Happy Birthday my sweet Spence.

Okay, moving along. It's also "Boomer's" Bday as well. He was actually born in August, but we brought him home on Spence's birthday 6 years ago.

Well enough of birthdays, but when I think of birthdays, it makes me think of cake and ice cream, which makes me think of this.....

Have you tried it?uhhhhhh it's sooooo delicious. haha we talked yesterday at our "fun and fit group" about eating clean. Well this isn't on the menu. But is sure is good! I'm loving all of the fall flavors, smells, and decorations. I haven't even come close to carving a pumpkin yet. Good for Leigh!!

Well have a blessed day. Enjoy the moments. They go so fast. (sniff sniff) - still crying.

Hi Denise, My Name is Darian Jones. My father is Robert Jones son of Jerry S. Jones, Who is the father of Stewart Jones your husband. We are family and we need to keep in touch. I hope we can keep in touch, Life is to short to not keep in touch with family, It's hard to believe It's been 14 years since we saw you all. I always want to brag about you to my friends who love your music but I cant because they dont believe me. Please Email at or We would love to hear from you.

My favorite book to read to my four-year-old. I can't get through it now without crying. I can't imagine in ten years! Blessings to you and your family.

Enjoy Spence now because the years go way too fast. My son is 32 years old and I still can see him as a newborn when I close my eyes. He has turned out to be such a very warm, independent and giving individual. It is so hard to let go, but take it one step at a time. I told him when he graduated from high school and started college that I was cutting those apron springs. I lied...............He will also be my little boy, but the letting go is much easier if you take it one day at a time.

Better late than never... Happy Birthday, Spence!!!!! :D May God keep on blessing his life so much!!! :) Brazilian hugs, Karen

Denise--Happy birthday to your boy!! Ypu know he's the person he is in part to his terrific parents!

denise, your dog is so pretty.

I KNOW what you mean! I have twin girls (age 14 as well) and I have a hard time when they go to Bible camp for 1 week. I don't even want to think about when they turn 18. My son will be 18 in 14 days and will graduate this year and it breaks my heart to even think of them leaving.... How did Abraham do it? It is SOOOOO hard!
I feel your pain!
