Happy Summer Day
Hello and Happy Summer Day,
If you live in some parts of the country you might want to choose to stay indoors today. However, this morning in Nashville it was a nice beautiful start with a little bit of cool in the air. I have been crazy busy, but fun busy this last week. My parents and my niece Melodie and nephew Stephen came for a visit. They have been here for a week. We shopped, went to the pool, the guys played golf and of course we ATE:) I'm such a ding dong though. I did not take ONE picture of us while they were here. UGHHHH I guess I will just have to have the memory in my brain, which is scary to rely on these days. I'm loving summer. The pace has been busy between football camps and travel, but I still love it. I am one who does not mind the heat too bad. The only thing I would change is the fact that every day we've had to be up early to get to workouts or camp, but that is all I can complain about.
Spence started Driver's Ed this week during "dead period". That means athletes aren't allowed to practice, workout, or anything school related for 2 weeks. I can't believe that he is even close to getting his permit. He's doing at this place called "Spanky's Driving School". The man who runs it is a Christian and a comedian. He makes it not so boring and also has a way of sharing his faith. I love it. Spence has now come home 2 days in a row and hasn't complained about how boring it is. Which means the school does a great job of not only teaching but entertaining.
One thing we are really loving is grilling out. For Father's Day we surprised Stu with a BIG GREEN EGG. My friend had told me that they are awesome. Well they were right. This thing can be a grill, oven, smoker. it's amazing. You can bake pizza's on it and it taste like it was cooked in a brick oven. This is a frozen pizza from Costco and it tasted crazy good.
We've made steaks, pork tenderloin, and last night I made a flank steak stuffed with bacon, butter, onions, ranch dressing mix. YUMMMM!!! My husband has become all excited about the next thing we are going to try. I'm loving that too. He's never been interested in cooking.
Last week I had a blessing. About 12 years ago, I met a young girl named Alicia through Mercy Ministries of America. She had quite a story, but Mercy had been a huge blessing for her and God came and changed her life. Well, since she has been out of Mercy we have stayed in touch. When I want to complain about something, I think of Alicia. She has and is still continuing to battle some very difficult health issues. Her life is HARD.. but she has continued to believe that God is good and that he loves her. So with amazing resilience she continues to live with a Joy that is unmistakable. Anyway, she came back and spoke to the Mercy Girls last week and I had the chance to go and support her and pray for her. Every time I walk into the doors of Mercy Ministries of America I'm always blown away and how the Lord is at work there with these precious girls. God definitely spoke through Alicia that day. Here is a picture of her.
If you are looking for a place to support, this is definitely a good one. Or if you know of a teenage girl who is desperate for help. Please check it out.
I'm off to run some errands, make some side dishes for a cook out tonight, and get Price some football cleats. His feet have grown again. Hope you have a blessed day.
