We have been home this summer ever since we got back from the beach. We had some family visiting…and I always love to try out new recipes. I made two that were in this month's Southern Living that bear repeating.
The first is Broccoli Slaw with Candied Pecans. It was SO GOOD. It made a ton, and was the perfect side dish for our smoked pork tenderloin.
I'm no food photographer, but you get the idea. Here is a link to the recipe. I was able to use up a huge head of cabbage that I got in my bi-weekly vegetable box from Delvin Farms. If you live in Nashville, I highly recommend this CSA.
Since the fourth of July is coming up, I thought I'd also share with you a recipe for baked beans that are slightly different than the norm, but oh so yummy. Now, I will link you to the recipe, but there is one small change I would make if you are planning to make them. I would NOT drain the butter beans. The recipe calls for you to drain all the beans, except for obviously the pork and beans. I felt that the beans could have used a little more "juice". So I would try draining all the beans EXCEPT the pork and beans and butter beans…just my opinion.
Here are what mine looked like. My mother-in-law said she's heard these called Calico Beans. You can see why.

Hope you enjoy these yummy recipes. I have a few more to share with you next week. Squash Casserole and Ice Cream Pie. I bet you can hardly wait…;0)
Have a wonderfully tasty week!
And-let me know if you make these!
