Tacos, School, & Silverware From Denise
I saw the school bus come by this morning as I sat on my screened porch reading my Bible. The county schools started today. Uh oh. That means we only have one more week of summer. Although, I feel like we've started in some ways. My new place seems to be behind the wheel again. Driving from practices to last minute dentist or doctor appointments or fitting in a last minute swim with friends. I feel like there is so much still to do to get them ready, but I'm trying to tell myself to just enjoy the moments with them. Last night we were actually able to sit down and eat together. Every other night we have had someone at football practice. We ate "Walking Tacos" one of the boys favorites. It's food like you get at the fair.
1. Take an individual bag of nacho cheese Doritos (crunch up the chips inside)
2. Cut open the side of the bag to make your bowl.
3. Put in all of your favorite taco ingredients
No one had to run sprints or anything last night, so it's a good time for them to eat as much as they wanted and not worry about getting sick. Not the healthiest meal, but it sure is good and the clean up is not bad. No dirty plates, just throw away the bag. Speaking of "Fair Food"............
Okay, so i was watching the news this morning and saw them talking about the "NEW" fried thing available at the state fairs. Every year it's something new. Fried Twinkies, Snickers, Oreo's, and now they are frying BUTTER!!! What????? Could we get any more unhealthy? It sounds disgusting, but people say it's good. I don't know about that. Here's a picture of it. I mean, the picture looks good, but still. I think I might have to stay with the Corn dogs. Those are my favorite.
I'm helping to host a wedding shower for my dear friend Lucy's daughter on Sunday. An event at your house always helps to get some things done that you've been meaning to accomplish. I had my friend Anna Berry come over and help me. We've moved furniture, she hung pictures, and rearranged things. Every day Stu has been coming home and there is something that has been changed this week. Last night, I decided to go ahead and polish the silver since it has been awhile since I've used it. Well, that all sounded really great, but then I decided to go ahead and open a box of my grandmother's silver that obviously hasn't been opened in a LONG time. Since I didn't grow up in a home that ever used real silver, I had no idea the mess I was getting into. Stu walks into the kitchen at 10 p.m. and just starts dying laughing. My hands are completely covered in black goop. I have no idea if I'm doing it right, BUT stuff is starting to shine again. Made me think about how tarnished my heart gets sometimes and yet Jesus continues to just keep buffing and working his hands on my life to help me shine if i will let him. Anyway, I finished up what I could. There are some pieces that I'm going to have to work harder on another time.
Today I'm meeting with the girls about songs for the record. I'm so excited about some of them. We are actually headed into the studio next week. Yay!!! We are going to record 4 songs in this first batch. I think you are going to like them:) Then I'm headed to dentist appointments, football practice, and a scrimmage. Life is full, but I'm so thankful for it. This morning part of my scripture was Ps. 31:19 "Great is your goodness which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of man on those who take refuge in you."
Today, rest in His embrace.
