Your Weekly Encouragement from Point of Grace
The very first people who heard the greatest news that ever was or ever will be received by humankind - that Jesus Christ had risen from the dead - were three women. Not three men. Three women. Then just a couple of verses down, Jesus Himself first appeared after his triumph over death to Mary Magdalene, a woman who began to spread what Beth Moore so suitably calls "the first ever recorded case of sanctified gossip"!
My friends, it was not an accident that Jesus chose women first to get the word out. He knew we could do it! I believe it was completely by design. Telling the good news of Christ is by far the very best thing we can be spreading around. In fact, we are commanded to use our mouths to tell others about the awesome and no condemning love of God.
People in this day and age really need to hear this news! The world we live in is so depressing sometimes that we can't even think straight. Using our mouths to witness and show God's love to others would be using them exactly the way they were meant to be used.
Matthew 5:14 -16 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a candle and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before mean, that they may see your good deeds and know your Father in heaven.
