Your Weekly Encouragement From Point Of Grace...

on October 24, 2011

The pink ladies pledge is to act cool, to look cool, and to be cool. Til death do us part, THINK PINK!!!! Does anyone remember that from Grease 2??? I wanted to be a "Pink Lady". LOL Well, you don't have to look far here in the month of October to see pink. Breast Cancer awareness month. This weekend we had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of a community effort in Shiloh, IL to help bring awareness. Shelley made the comment of how it seems Breast Cancer has played such a big role in bringing our country together. Whether it's football players, businesses, marathon's, whatever else, people are supporting the cause for research. I suppose it's because most of us have been affected by it somehow or another. It's another reason I love America. We care about each other and our struggles.

My Mom actually was diagnosed with it about 7 years ago. I wish at the time I had a better understanding of how she might have felt. After we realized that it was contained and she wasn't in danger of it spreading, I was just grateful she would be okay. I didn't really understand the emotional impact it still had on her. I think I might have responded differently 7 years later. As we sang to a sweet crowd this weekend I looked out at groups of friends that had come to the show. I wasn't sure of their stories, but I did know that they weren't walking life alone. It's a beautiful picture of how God designed us. He made us for relationship and community.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

People matter to God. Nothing is more important to him than relationship. He uses us to show one another that we aren't alone. Be that person today that builds someone up. I'm sure you won't have to look around very long to see who that someone is. Maybe it's your husband, child, co-worker, or the lady at the checkout counter:)

Our time in Shiloh was sweet. It was a great event. I love when churches get outside their church walls and get involved in community events. This was very family friendly. They even had jumpy things for kids and the most amazing balloon maker I've ever seen. Our kids came with us as well. Caroline, Darby, and Price along with Bella (our sound man's daughter) So, they were pumped up to have things to do and yummy treats to eat. Although all of the cotton candy made them super hyper for the trip home:)

We had another guest on the road with us as well. Michael Passons' dog "Ollie" . We call him "Olly Bolly".

Seriously he is the cutest thing. He just slept right in the bunk and stayed there all night. Makes me wish we could always travel with pets on the road. They make me so happy! What didn't make me happy was the whole Oklahoma Sooners loss. I was trying to watch it on the bus and they had the huge weather delay and then just didn't play up to par. It was a tough loss:( My family was so upset. You would've thought that someone died! Made me remember that life is never consistent. I cannot place my hope in anything else, but Christ. But I still love you Sooners!

Hope you have a blessed day and that you are a blessing to someone else.
