Salsa, Christmas Cards, & Hope

One more day of finals and school is done for the semester. Hallelujah!!!! I'm not sure who's more excited about it. The kids or me:) It has been good to be home a few days this week. I'm starting to get a grip on our Christmas list. On Wednesday night I stayed up til 2:30 a.m. making Shelley's Mom's Salsa for our teachers. It took two full recipes.

I've almost finished all my Christmas Cards. Yay! Anyway, It's just been nice to be home and be able to help the boys study for finals, etc. LOL! Well at least I'm there for moral support. I am definitely not smarter than a 5th grader.

Super excited about tonight and our Nashville Show. IT always makes me a little nervous to sing in front of friends and family, but fun all at the same time. I'll share pictures from the show tomorrow.

Wanted to leave you with one little thought today as I read this morning in my devotional. HOPE - We hear a lot of statements this time of year with the word "hope" in it. I "HOPE" I get such and such for Christmas. I "HOPE" the mall isn't too crowded. I "HOPE" that I get my shopping done..... etc......... But HOPE is what we celebrate at Christmas! Our HOPE is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ. Our HOPE is found in our future. We have HOPE that God has not abandoned us. He made a way to have relationship with HIM. That is real HOPE.

Romans 15:13 "May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in HOPE.

Have a blessed day.

Shelley Says...

Once again on our "Home for the Holidays" Christmas shows this year, we are honored to be working with The American Bible Society and a special initiative they have called "A Soldier's Hope".

Even though many of our troops are coming home from Iraq, there are still hundreds of thousands deployed all over the world who will not be home for the holidays because they are sacrificing for us.

We have learned that many of these young men and women are facing their own mortality for the very first time. As you can imagine, it's a huge opportunity for the chaplains of the armed forces to share Christ with generous souls. The chaplains need OUR help. We can have a huge part in providing Bibles and spiritual care for America's sons and daughters who are sacrificing for us. We can give back in the greatest way possible- sharing God's word with them.

Many people have joined with us on our tour so far in providing 24 soldiers a year (two a month) with Bibles. Thank you so much to those of you who have partnered with us so far. If you are interested in pledging just 10 dollars a month to help us reach our goal ….just CLICK HERE for more information.

We met a guy in Louisiana the other night who had actually received one of the Bibles that went out from our tour last year. It had a personal note from the concert-goer inside the front cover, and he was so so blessed to receive it. They really are getting into the hands of these guys and gals who need comfort and peace more than we can imagine.

Below is a short video that explains a little more about the great need. Please watch then join us and pledge 10 dollars a month to not only say "Thanks" to these heroes at Christmas, but all year through!

Love, Shelley

It's The Week Of Darby!

Darby is a December baby... and being a December baby with parents on tour makes celebrating very challenging...but we keep pressin' on.

A stop at Build a Bear during Chipmunk mania was Monday evening.

Tuesday was cheerleading cupcakes and a candle with her Nanny, Mallory. Mallory has pictures on her facebook.

Wednesday, she came home after school with loads of presents from the whole family. She LOVED everything!!!

While we were in Greenville, S.C tuesday doing a show, I was able to see my Mom and Dad. One of Darby's bday wishes was a "Rara" cake. Darby was so thrilled that Rara (my Mom) was going to make her cake. Rara is famous for her cakes in our family... a simple sheet cake with toys on top. Darby is so into dogs right now and so the theme was "Darby's dog sitting"... It's in the little things.

When Darby came home on Wednesday she was welcomed with tons of presents and a family celebration - Spaghetti ( her favorite) and Chocolate cake. Here are a few of her favorite treats.

We ended with a trip to the bus to head to Lake Charles, La.

Trinity Bapt. Church in Lake Charles, La. absolutely kept the "party" going. Darby could not believe a church existed like this. Take a look.

This place was Disney for any kid. Everyone was so wonderful!!!! Marie entertained Darby all afternoon. She had a blast!!!

THANK YOU to Marie, Richard, Jan, Peggy, Mandy, Kay and so many more... you blessed POG and our crew immensely!

This church was so accommodating when I walked into the choir room and in the far corner saw the most AWESOME desk in the world they were like, "you can have that"... REALLY? I CAN?... Look at this adorable desk. It is so old with such great character. It was the perfect size! Maybe "Santa" will have that under the tree.

Now, we are on day 5...stay tuned for what may be next.

Blessings, leigh
