Shelley Says...

Last night we got to do something so Christmas-y that I am now TOTALLY in the spirit!! We got to sing at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Opryland Hotel and it was so fun!! If you have never done the "Opryland Christmas" experience, you have got to make a trip to Nashville to see the lights, the Rockettes, the inside of the hotel, everything! It's all so awesome!

I mean just LOOK at those lights. I'm going to make David do all the trees in our yard JUST like that!

Here we are with the hosts for the night- Lori Ann Crook and Charlie Chase. They are the sweetest and we were first on their show at least 15 or so years ago. I told them that they make me mad because they NEVER age!!

Caroline and Darby each got to bring a friend. Here they are backstage in our tent relaxing. Darby is on the left, then Caroline's buddy from school Grace Anne, then Caroline, and Darby's friend Abby. They were all very sweet and had a great time!!

They did some fireworks right after our show, but I couldn't get a great picture of them. I mostly included this pic because our marketing guy John Clore is in it, and I know he has been DYING to be in our blog since he got the job at Word. Haven't you John??

Here are all the kids together...Price in the background, Spence's girlfriend Allie, and Spence. Can you believe how tall Spence is??? I can't take it. Darby Mae and Caroline really don't know what to think about Spence having a girlfriend. (Actually I don't know what to think about it either. Surely he's not old enough. 21 seems like a reasonable age to me.) Anyway, our girls are uber-protective of him...but I think Allie got the "thumbs up" from Darbs and Kooks because she's "reeeeally pretty." I felt bad for sweet Allie because the girls were staring at her all night. The younger girls are always enamored by the "big girls."

Thompson Square also performed. They sing that song "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not." They sounded GREAT and were super sweet.

After the performance and lighting, we got to go preview the "ICE" display for this year. It is all centered around the movie "Madagascar" as part of Opryland's new partnership with Dreamworks. Once again I was amazed at the ice sculptures (and how cold they have to keep it.) I had to get a picture of Grace Anne and Caroline in their blue coats...they looked SO CUTE. Like little sumo wrestlers. (Which means I looked like a big sumo wrestler.)

This is called "losing it"'s getting late.

COULD I LOOK BIGGER??????? Just to make myself feel better I will list what I had on under that blue coat.

1. undergarment
2. cami
3. thermal shirt
4. cardigan sweater
5. puffy down coat

So stop judging.

And have a great Thanksgiving...:0)

UGGGG! I can't believe it. I didn't get around to calling my Mom yesterday for her BIRTHDAY!!! It hit me in the wee hours of the morning this morning. I had already sent her gift, so I didn't have that as the reminder. Truth is..... I thought about it yesterday morning, but couldn't call because it was too early. Then, we got into our Christmas rehearsals and it was pretty intense because we have a lot of new things to learn, AND I was hosting our Community Group dinner last night. So, I was a little overwhelmed in the kitchen. Time just got away. The sick part is.... What did I JUST write about on Tuesday. Take time in the moments, people matter.... not the to do list!! Oh, how I need Jesus.

My Mom doesn't forget anyone's birthday. I mean really. She even knows when Shelley and Leigh's daughters birthdays are and sends them a card. Of all people!!! Ugh. Okay, I've got to move on. I'll talk to her when she wakes up today. Here's the thing. She's my Mom and she will forgive me. I think one of the biggest things that she has shown me through her example is God's grace. She loves me no matter what. Not that I want to take advantage of that, but I know it's true. I have one of the greatest Mom's in the world!! So M

Tonight we are pretty excited. We are singing at the "lighting of the Christmas tree" at Opryland Hotel. I think it's going to be the perfect night for it. Crisp and Cold:) Then we get to take our kids through the new "Ice" exhitbit out by the hotel.

Here's a pic from last years "Ice" adventure.

I'm sure that we will have lots of pics in the next blog. I do have to show off my mantel and dining table. My friend Kirsten who is ever so creative helped me.

I love creative people because I am not. Thank you for Kirsten for helping me:)

Off to rehearsals at Leigh's house today. Then we will be at Opryland tonight. But first I have to run basketball shoes up to school because one of my beloved children forgot his. I guess I'll be kind today, since I'm hoping my Mom offers me the same grace.

Have a blessed day!

How You Live

Well the results are in on the vote for "Turn up the Music". "HOW YOU LIVE" was the winning vote!! It is a well deserving song for sure:) I think that song resonates with so many of us because it's one of our biggest struggles..... Living in the moment. Or maybe it's just my struggle. I'm always thinking about what I need to do tomorrow or looking ahead to getting ready for the next tour. Worrying about my boys futures instead of just enjoying them today. Thinking about what Stu and I will do when boys go off to college instead of just loving each other moment by moment. My pastor said this weekend in his sermon. "Worry and anxiety steal and borrow from our future, always leaving a debt behind.

God gives us a very special gift called today. I'm tired of letting worry rob me of that gift. How we live today is what matters. We have the opportunity to be a blessing to our husbands, wives, kids, friends, and others. People matter to God, not our "to do lists". Listen to the song once again today. As you head into the holiday season. Don't rush through it to get it done. Enjoy it. Put out the china, love those around you the way God intend you to. AND most of all remember to sit at the feet of Jesus to remember how much you are loved.

As in the story of Mary and Martha... Luke 10:41 Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.

Turn up the Music, turn it up loud
Take a few chances, let it all out.
You won't regret it, looking back from where you have been
It's not who you knew, it's not what you did, it's "HOW YOU LIVE".

Love you,

Back Home... For Now

It's Sunday afternoon and we just returned from 2 fantastic shows - Jamestown, N.Y. and Grand Rapids, MI. You may have read about Jamestown in Shelley's blog below, however the Grand Rapids show was our last GOG event for 2011. Bittersweet of course, but we will start back up again in 2012 with a brand new conference. Please stay connected with us on our website or for more updates.

The girls and the chaperones were a gracious crowd and we loved getting to meet so many of them. As a matter of fact, we would love for you to submit your pics on our Facebook page. We took over a 1000 pictures and we would love to see some of them.

Thanks again to a very successful weekend and safe travels... A huge thanks for ALL the hard work from our record label Word Entertainment - David, Dara, Rann, Katie, Curtis, Marcus, CeCe, Mark and so many more - these peeps never stopped!! WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU DID - AND THANKS!!!

Now... as I mentioned earlier in the blog, it IS Sunday afternoon and I would LOVE a much needed nap before my work week begins on Monday 9 am sharp. Until next time - nite nite!!!
