Our New Record Is Almost Here!!

We are SO excited to be releasing a "POG Hits" record on July 12th. Through the years, it has been such a privilege to record some incredible songs that have hopefully had a positive impact on our listeners. The writers that we have gotten to work with have always been so patient to listen to what we have to say, change lyrics and melodies up for us, and try their best to put our heart on paper. This record is a collection not only of some of our "bigger radio hits", but more importantly, songs we felt really have a purpose. Whether that is to simply put a smile on a hard working moms' face during her day, or to minister to someone with the message of God's grace, these songs have stood the test of time. We really didn't want to put ALL super old stuff on there, so we do have a few of our newer "fan favorites", and we are most excited about the one new song we got to record for this project.

I will wait to post our video blog about the REAL story behind why we re-recorded the Eagle's song "Hole in the World"...but just to let you know, we have been doing this is concert on a regular basis, and people have been loving it. Not just because it's familiar, but it really makes you think about our real "job" in the world as believers.

We lovingly (insert smiley face here) pre-signed (autographed) about 300 copies of "Turn Up the Music-The Hits of POG" can get one here by preordering today! If you get an autographed one, your copy could possibly have either kid's fingerprints, food, or suntan lotion on it...just sayin'...(they were at three different houses)

We will also be touring this record this fall with opening artist Jason Castro (the sweet guy with dreadlocks from American Idol!) Check the tour page to see if we are coming close to you!

Here is a song list from the record so you will know what you will find on it....

And here is what your cover will look like....

except with our signatures nice and perty on the front!!! (and food stains) JUUUUUUUUUST kidding....

Also, wanted to let you know our record company is offering a couple different special "bundles" in honor of this project. Honestly, the only bundles we care about are "Green Bean Bundles" with bacon, but apparently in our webstore there are some cool offerings!! Click here to see those too!

OK, until tomorrow. Love you guys....

Hope you are liking our new blog...

Shelley, Leigh and the big Dee...(we thought that was a good rhyme)....maybe we should change our name...except Denise isn't big...never mind.....

Denise On Empty Nesting

Well, not really, but I feel like we are trying out being empty nesters for the next two weeks.  I dropped my boys off at Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain, NC on Sunday. It's an awesome Christian camp for boys only. (Which makes Mom really happy) girls.   They will be gone for 13 days.  I don't think that I have been at home for more than 1 night without at least one of them here.  So now I'm faced with all of those projects that I've been putting off with the excuse that I just didn't have time with all of their activities.  I decided to tackle my biggest project first, the dreaded wrapping room!!  Well, that's what I call it because when we started looking to buy this house, the previous owners had it all organized with wrapping paper, scrap booking crafts, and sewing materials.  NOT very fitting for me.  Therefore when we moved in, it ended up as a junk room.  It's gotten worse over the last year as you can see.

I KNOW!!!!  i'm kinda embarrassed to even show you, but maybe it will inspire some of you who think you've got a messy house.  I honestly would rather pluck my eyelashes out one by one then clean this up, but after two days of detailed torture......

Doesn't it look better???  I also cleaned out our hot tub and did a few loads of laundry.

Not all of my time has been work though.  Stu and I are having fun seeing what it would be like for our kids to be gone to college.  What would we do?  So, Monday night when he got home from work, we went on a bike ride with our new bikes and brought along a picnic.  It was fun until we had to bike up this huge hill coming home.  I thought both of us would pass out.  Here is a picture of us on our adventure.

We are actually going to go on dates, try new restaurants, and maybe stay out late enough to hear some music in Nashville USA!  So, for those of you creative minds, feel free to give me some ideas. Last night we decided to stay in for the evening. We rented a movie "The Fighter", ordered pizza from Matteo's, and for our something new, we tried an ice cream place called "Glazee" .  I think Shelley may have twittered about it before, but it was DELICIOUS.  He talked us into getting 3 pints. (buy two, get one free) I'm going to have to workout overtime. All of it is homemade right there in the kitchen. Seriously, the Butter Pecan Pie flavor was REDONK!!!!

I have to say, that after 19 years of marriage I still enjoy my husband's company. Sometimes we just forget that our family began with us and needs time and attention. I miss my boys sooooo much, but I know that this time is good for the two of us as well.

Today I suppose I will start project #2.  (cleaning out and giving away the clothes the boys have outgrown)  I'm also meeting the girls for a Point of Grace lunch/meeting which is way more fun.  Some day I'm going to be able to go to Shelley's swimming pool and it not rain.

Hope you have a wonderful day.  Know that you're loved by God:)

Shelley Says...

Well, we are finally doing it. Starting our blog. It has long been in deliberation and a state of construction, but we finally have our site at a place that I would consider "blog friendly."  For those of you (all 22) who read my "25 Days of Christmas Blog", this will be much the same. Exciting, ground-breaking news from the ever evolving and ultra fascinating lives of POG. This will be a place where we will daily (well, maybe not on weekends ALL the time) keep you updated on all things personal and professional. We have waited and waited for the internet, twitter, facebook and like to just GO AWAY. We just don't get it. We are 40 something years old and technologically challenged. This is coming from a girl whose daughter asked me just tonight if I knew how to download a Selena Gomez song, (she really already knew the answer) and I said "absolutely not."  It would have to wait until her father got home from golfing. I would say he is the opposite of me when it comes to all things computer...(He is president of the Steve Jobs fan club by the way...)

So, here we go with the first POG BLOG...I hope you're sitting down.

We had a great weekend...but before I get to that...can I name drop for one sec....

We sang the national anthem LAST weekend at the Charity Celebrity Softball Tournament for CMA Musicfest Week.

Our kids got to meet this guy....

American Idol winner Scotty McCreery...such a sweet and humble guy. GOOD FOR HIM is what I say!!!!!! I hope he becomes hugely famous... mostly because he couldn't have been nicer to our kids.

Leigh and I also met Lauren...

I didn't have the heart to tell her she had something on her face.

This weekend.

David and I went to a great showcase Friday night for a new artist named Dara Maclean. She has new song on the radio called "Suitcases". You are going to LOVE her. Make sure you check her out. A seriously great voice but even better heart.

Saturday we got to sing at the Grand Ole Opry. We always love doing this. We sang "Love and Laundry" and of course, "King of the World"  in honor of Father's Day.

Sunday was of course Father's Day. Caroline had this idea that she wanted to do a "scavenger hunt" of sorts for her dad. So we had all sorts of little gifts like pictures, cards, balloons, and cupcakes in different locations, all leading up to the "BIG GIFT".

That is, if you consider the movie Tron in 3D a big gift...

I must mention the favorite cupcakes in Nashville come from a store called Iveycake. And you all KNOW I am total cake snob to the maximum. The gal who owns it (Ivey) is the sweetest thing you will ever meet, and the CUTEST. Pretty sure she's never tasted one of her cupcakes though, if you know what I'm sayin'. Her husband, Mark, used to play bass for us a long time he plays for Carrie Underwood. He really moved up in the sho!

Aaaaaaanway, if you ever come to Nashville, you MUST go visit her and try one of each flavor she offers. My favorite is called the "I Do"...white on white loves!

Father's Day night dinner was all at David's request....steak on the grill, twice baked potatoes from the Pioneer Women's Cookbook, this really good salad called "Crunchy Romaine Toss" sans broccoli-his request, and green bean bundles. We ate with our neighbors...I'm sure you'll hear more about them in the future....but I did want to give Kirsten a big kudos for her green bean bundle contribution. She did very well, especially considering she would rather shove an ice pick in her eye than cook anything....

After dinner, Caroline and neighbor Sarah performed their third installment of their Sunday Night Summer Shows. This is an actual series they have created, and they are very serious about it.

Tonights show was a tribute to Selena Gomez. I'm down with that. I can think of worse role models for sure.

The show was very dance oriented tonight. Sometimes it's singing, or playing instruments...always a surprise. Good memories.

Here they are in their matching show costumes about to make their big reveal...

The little guy in the blue shirt is Ben, Sarah's brother. He usually participates too, but since tonight was a Selena Gomez tribute, he decided to sit this one out. Too hard on his manhood. (Notice the S and G on the porch columns...I told you they were serious.

And yes. That is a TV on our porch...37 inches...husband obsessed with TVs. And Steve Jobs.

So that was our I write the girls are all freshly showered from their dance show and watching a "Good Luck Charlie"...and all is right with the world...

love you guys,
