Out Of The Mouths Of Babes...

Today is my day to blog a word of encouragement...I was telling my daughter about having to blog a devotional and she said, "tell them this verse" and I quote, "For God so loved the world in this way, He gave His one and only Son that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but live an eternal life. John 3:16. I said, "Darby that is a great idea. Thank you!".

We have all heard this message so many times but for me to hear it from the mouth of my little girl was so beautiful. Darby mentioned she learned this scripture in Sunday School but for some reason she has not been able to stop thinking about it. (hmmm... guess who is working on her heart?).

Realizing the impact others have in the lives of our children makes me stop and say thank you! Thanks to our Sunday School teachers, our nursing workers, the parking lot volunteers... ALL volunteers for that matter. Your service to others is not going unnoticed!

Let's take time to notice those around us that could use an extra something today and be that blessing to them.

Have a great weekend,
Leigh Cappillino

Young Life and the Circus

Well I feel kinda bad because I'm stealing some pictures that my dad told me to give to Leigh for the first part of this blog. David and I went out of town last weekend for a little fun trip, and my parents came to keep Caroline for us. While we were gone, Mimi and Boppa took Caroline and Darby Mae to the circus. When Leigh dropped Darby off, she asked my dad to take some pics for her blog. He sent them to me to send to her a few days later, but I forgot to forward them to Leigh and just saw them in my email, so before the news is too old….

Here are Darby and Caroline at the Circus. :0)

Aren't they getting so big?? They had a really good time apparently and stayed for the whole thing. Caroline said the clowns were a little weird, and I was like "Duh"…clowns are the worst!!

I specifically told them that they were to buy NO cheap trinkets or souvenirs…so here they are in the gift shop…Boppa is such a sucker…

They HAD to get these cups because the snow cones were IN them…Genius…

I haven't been to the circus in ages, but I used to think it was so cool.

So that's that…sorry Leigh for stealing your blog…don't be mad.

So last night we performed at a beautiful home here in Nashville for Young Life. This is such an incredible organization that is sharing the gospel with junior high and high school kids, and I hope when Caroline gets in Junior High she will be involved in it. We didn't have it at my school growing up, and I know how fortunate the schools that do have it are.

Here we are with David Ott. He is the Nashville director over all the schools for Young Life. Too bad he's not very cute…We look like his grandmas…and remind me not to wear my hair in that kind of ponytail again. Thanks.

He did a great job organizing the event along with all the other Young Life committee members. Really really sweet people with a huge heart for teens. Kindred spirits with us for sure.

Here is Denise warming up. PS That's a guitar pick in Dana's mouth. Not his tongue.

And of course they had desserts and I'm proud to say I didn't eat a single one of them. Modern day miracle.

Thanks to the Elam family for hosting this fundraiser and all the people who came to support this great organization.

Happy ALMOST Friday!!

A "Giant" Night For The Capp's

If you know anything about the Cappillino family, you know we are N.Y. Giant fans to the core - especially my darling husband Dana...Super Bowl Sunday has been much anticipated for many days now. Nerves, cold sweats and complete discomfort were going to be our companion until the clock ran out... We certainly hoped for a victory... They didn't let us down - it was a SUPER BOWL indeed!

Shelley was quite inspirational in what I was going to make for the Super Bowl party we were attending. I tried the Glazed Tea cakes from our cookbook (as she suggested). The only thing I need to improve on is stirring in the powdered sugar a little at a time. My glaze had a few bumps...but the bumps didn't stop anyone from eating them.

Our dear friends went all out with a Super Bowl bash of greatness...with score boards, games, prizes and delicious food!! A fantastic evening to remember! Thanks Rob and Deirdre. Dana wasn't able to stay during the game, he needed to be ALONE with HIS Giants in order to memorize each play. One picture with Dana before he departed.

Everyone seemed to be completely into the Half Time show... (not me so much).

Unfortunately I don't have a physical picture of the family hug at the end of the game but I have a unforgettable memory stored away for keeps ... . WE were sooooooooooooo excited for the Giants VICTORY! We will never forget it!

Now it was time to get back to reality. Too much food means a longer and more intense work out with the girls.

Our very entertaining trainer Paige, always finds new and exciting things to excersise with... she says "you don't need a gym, you have a gym with the things around your house". Take a look at what she made us do with these water jugs.

You must do the time if you have done the crime... please someone bail me out!!! This hurts!!!

However, I do love working out with these wonderful ladies... they help the painful time pass by a little bit faster.

In the words of Neil Armstrong, "that's one small step for man, one GIANT leap for mankind". Girls, small steps or giant leaps, make the memories count!

Have a great day everyone, leigh cappillino

Basketball Games, The Super Bowl, + Cupcakes

Happy Tuesday,

Hope you are enjoying your day. I was putting some pictures on my computer and thought I'd just tell you a little about what we've been up to the past few days. Lots of fun and excitement has been going on!!

Last Friday was a big basketball game for our Middle School. So, we had a big Pep Rally. It was lots of fun and really loud. Because both of my boys are on Student Council, they got to lead in the Rally. Here's Price in the morph suit and wig. He was soooo excited that he was getting to finally wear his Morph suit somewhere.

Spence didn't get to dress up because he had to go get dressed for game. However, the crowd was pretty pumped.

It was 8th grade recognition, so I was given a rose and we took a picture. Look how much shorter I am than Spence and I'm even in heels! It was a very exciting game and we ended up winning by 2 points. I think I almost stroked out twice.

We rushed straight from that game to Price's game. He won all 3 this weekend. That was fun!! He was rebounding machine. Notice both of my boys are wearing the number "14".

Sunday we hosted a rather large Super Bowl party with Family and friends of the boys. Here are all of them piled downstairs in the basement.

Let me just stop right here and give Dana Cappillino a big shout it out. Way to Go Giants!! I'm not sure Dana would have recovered if the Patriots would have caught that final throw. Honestly, I didn't watch a ton of the game. I was too busy in the kitchen chatting with the women and eating all the food. Speaking of food..... I have to tell you about something I've just discovered. You know how much Shelley and I love white cupcakes with Butter cream icing. Well, I think I might have a new favorite.

This is from a fairly new little restaurant in downtown Franklin called Marcia's Patisserie.

If you are ever down there, you should stop by. Plus if you are hosting a shower, her pettifor cakes are REDONK!!!!!!!

My fun and fit group will be coming over today. It's a good thing because those cupcakes are sure to go straight to my thighs.

If you are in Nashville, don't forget about tomorrow night. We are doing an intimate acoustic house show for the Nashville Young Life organization. Go to Nashvillehouseshows.com for more info. It would be a great date night or girls night. Plus you get a very yummy dessert and coffee. Hope to see some of you there.

Have a very blessed day,
Denise
