Shelley Says...

Dear friends,

I wanted to write today and tell you about an amazing little Southern cookie company called Chucklet and Honey that one of my closest and dearest friends from college, Chuck Hargett, started recently…

WHY????

TWO REASONS….

1. Because you know I love food, and I never, EVER lead you astray on it, now do I??
2. Because it's almost Valentine's Day!! HELLO!! The world's greatest manufactured holiday. You gotta love it!

Here is a picture of me and Chuck. Isn't he the cutest?? He and Denise and I were the Three Musketeers in college. Oh the stories I could tell…

These cookies are SO SO VERY GOOD. I'm proud to say I actually helped him developed the maple one…well…at least I sorta "thought" he should HAVE a maple cookie. And I told him that. And he did it. Counts for somethin'.

Most of my friends love the Peanut Butter Fluffer Nutter. They are HUMONGOUS. In a good way of course. And he even has a new one especially for Valentine's Day with little cinnamon candies in it. SO SO CUTE.

My personal fave is the chocolate chip. You just can't go wrong with Chuck's recipe on this one.

On a slightly more serious note…obviously the name Chucklet is a play on words- Chuck and Chocolate. But, what's more important is the "Honey". Honey is what everyone called Chuck's mom. To say she was a precious lady is a complete understatement. The fact is, I have known no one since Honey, who every day and in every way, projects the love of Christ like she did. She was truly an angel on Earth, and now she is in Heaven. We lost her several years ago and she is missed by all who loved her every single day. This company serves as a reminder of Honey, and the sweetness she brought to everyone she came in contact with. Denise and I lived in her garage apartment the last year we were in college, and she treated us like her own daughters. I loved to make Honey laugh!!

Life is short. Make someone smile this Valentines Day. Send them a little piece of Honey and lots of "happy" from you with a box of these cookies baked with love.

Oh, and tell 'em Shelley sent you. (Maybe they'll send me some free samples.) hahahaha!!

Update From Denise

I promise we are going to get our act together as far as our blogs go. We realize that they've been a little out of sync. Over the last week we have been in the studio during the days and then doing the "Mom" thing at night. (which for me consists of at least one basketball game or practice every night. ) I had the privilege this last weekend to have my oldest niece, Melodie and her friend Amanda visit us from Oklahoma. I realize more and more how "old" I'm getting. They were pumped up about going to downtown Nashville and doing some line dancing and two stepping. There was a time in my life that I thought that was fun, but now I'm wanting to get in the bed about the time they are getting started. haha. It was fun having them and letting them enjoy Nashville.

I've been fighting a cold and am looking forward to tonight. I have NOTHING I have to do. We will eat leftovers and I hope to sit on the couch and watch some mindless TV for a little while. But for now, I'm heading to my woman's Bible study. We are doing Beth Moore's new one. The study of James. We've only done one week and I'm blown away at how much I am learning about James the brother of Jesus.

I've got to run because I need to run over my music for worship. I haven't been playing my guitar lately so I'm having to build up my fingers again.

Here is a verse from the Message that really spoke to me this week. Gal 5:25-26

Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original. (the Message)

Go out today and be original! Giving all the glory to Jesus.
Love you,
Denise

Just "Horsing" Around

I told you earlier in my last blog we got to do some extra fun things while in Belton for the holidays. My bff since college, invited us up to her home/farm to meet the newest addition to her family. His name is Rhett Butler and he is a cutie pie. To know Cindy all these years I would NEVER have thought she would have a chicken coupe in her back yard, a goat and a HORSE named Rhett Butler... She has disproved the ole' saying, " You can't teach an old dog new tricks".

We had a blast though especially the kids. Darby and Leila learned a little Archery from the boys and while they were playing Cindy came outside to tell us we need to wait a few minutes before we can go see Rhett. The stable owners that keep Rhett need to "put down" one of their goats that became toxic. Literally while Cindy was telling us we heard a BOOM!!! and then we saw (from across the street) them dragging the goat off into the woods. I must say, it was a little disturbing to us city folk however apparently common to those living on a farm.

Darby is finally getting the hang of it.

The gang: Micah, Josh, Me, Leila and the Darbs

Speaking of goats, my poor bother in law had just gotten his goat back a few days before Christmas ( they were breeding her) and when he woke up Christmas Eve morning the goat had been attacked and killed by coyotes... so sad...then Cindy's goat...what was going on?

Here is a glimpse of all the wonderful new friends we met on the farm...let's hope the coyotes stay away!

Cindy teaching Darby how to brush Rhett correctly.
